Five Jam Players to Attend Elite Camp

BAKERSFIELD, June 1, 2012 - The Bakersfield Jam will have five players represented at the third-annual NBA Development League Elite Camp on Monday, June 4 and Tuesday, June 5 at Chicago's Moody Bible Institute. Guard Osiris Eldridge, Guard Mustapha Farrakhan, Guard Trey Johnson, Forward Renaldo Major, and Guard Jeremy Wise will all be on hand to showcase their skills. The camp features some of the NBA D-League's top prospects from the 2011-12 season, and serves as an opportunity for those players to display their skills and be evaluated by NBA team personnel.
The two-day event features both drill work and full-court games, giving players the best opportunity to showcase their talents. More than 50 NBA front office executives and scouts are expected to be on hand to evaluate the talent.
Eldridge played in 42 games for Bakersfield and posted averages of 15.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.3 steals in 25.5 minutes per game. In addition, Eldridge participated in the Dream Factory Dunk Contest and Shooting Stars Competition at the 2012 NBA D-League All-Star Event. Farrakhan, member of the 2012 NBA D-League All-Rookie Second Team, played in 39 games for the Jam and averaged 9.0 points with 3.4 assists in 18.7 minutes per game. Johnson was a late-season addition and played in 11 games for Bakersfield, averaging 12.8 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds in 27.7 minutes per game.
Major played and started in all of his 46 regular-season games for the Jam and started in all four postseason games. He averaged 15.2 points on .533 shooting, 4.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.5 steals in 31.7 minutes per game in the regular-season. Wise started in 39 of his 41 regular-season games for Bakersfield and started in all four postseason contests. He averaged 13.9 points, 6.3 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 30.4 minutes per game in the regular-season.
"The NBA D-League's Elite Mini Camp gives almost 40 top prospects from our league an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of more than 50 NBA scouts and front office personnel," said Chris Alpert, Vice President of Basketball Operations and Player Personnel for the NBA D-League. "At the same time, the event affords NBA teams an offseason chance to check in on elite young players as they fill their summer league and training camp rosters."
The event is highlighted by eight players with NBA experience, including former Chicago Bulls guard JamesOn Curry and his Springfield Armor teammate Dennis Horner, who found his way to the NBA D-League by way of a national tryout before earning a GATORADE Call-Up to the NBA last season. Other NBA veterans include Keith Benson (Sioux Falls Skyforce), Trey Johnson (Bakersfield Jam), and Alando Tucker (Texas Legends). Three members of the 2012 NBA D-League Champion Austin Toros, Terrance Woodbury, Julian Wright and Luke Zeller, round out the 36-player field.
The event, which was held in Los Angeles in 2009 and Chantilly, Va. in 2010, returns following a one-year hiatus in 2011.
