San Angelo Colts News Release
After a crushing defeat, literally, in game one the Colts looked to take game two against Amarillo. On Tuesday, it would be much easier as the Dillas five errors made for a much easier win, as well as the terrific performance by Yorkin Ferreras. The Colts got off to a quick start scoring in the first. Tyrone Pendergrass lead off with and infield single and moved to second on a ground out, then scored when catcher Kevin Griffin throw sailed into left field on a steal of third. With San Angelo up 1-0, they would score two more in the second when Brian Bakers groundout scored two with runners on second and third. Kevin Bass scored easily, but an errant throw to first by shortstop Ericnardo Padilla also allowed Tony Sanguinetti to score and it was 3-0 Colts. The Colts added a run in the third as well when Scott Krause lead off with a homerun, his fourth of the year, and it was 4-0 San Angelo. The comeback Colts could not just cruise to an easy win could they. Well it became tighter as Amarillo cut the lead in half scoring solo runs in the fourth and fifth highlighted by a Danny Bravo homer his first of the year, and it was 4-2. San Angelo countered right away though with two in the sixth and were up four again 6-2. San Angelo would add a run in the eighth to make it 7-2 and go on to win by that final. The pitching was terrific as starter Yorkin Ferreras got the win going six innings, allowing just six hits and two runs.
John Smith pitched a solid inning as well, and Mark Goodman got the last four outs without allowing a hit and picked up the save. The Colts go for the sweep on Wednesday in game three the final game of this three game series. San Angelo will send out righty Stephen Artz against fellow righty and former San Angelo Colts Charlie Griffin. You can hear all the action starting with the pre-game show at 6:50 PM and the first pitch at 7:05 PM on 100.1 FM KCLL, COOL 100.
