Fitz Scores Twice, Wings Win in OT

The Aberdeen Wings hit the road Wednesday night and headed south to face in-state rivals the Brookings Blizzard. Brookings would jump out early with an early lead. While it looked like Aberdeen would head into the locker room down a goal, Kevin Fitzgerald had other ideas.  With just 6 seconds left in the opening frame Fitz put on past the Blizzard goaltender to tie things up. In the 2nd Fitz made it a little less dramatic scoring the periods only goal with just under 2 minutes left to give the Wings a 2-1 lead heading into the 3rd. In the final period of regulation the Wings held off the Brookings attack until late in the game when the Blizzard were able to slip one past Thome to tie the game and send it into overtime. It took a little over half way through the extra time for Matt Pulver to light the lamp and send the Wings home with a 3-2 road victory. The Aberdeen Wings are once again on the road this Friday when they travel to Bismarck to take part in the Titan Machinery Dakota Cup battle with the Bobcats. The game can be heard on 94.1 the ROCK, Streamed at hubcityradio.com & seen at fasthockey.com. The Ramkota in Aberdeen will be broadcasting the game through fast hockey.
