Fisher Cats Lose Third Straight

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
(Bowie, MD)-- Bowie starter Beau Hale pitched out of trouble in all five innings but left without allowing a run and the Baysox beat New Hampshire 4-1 Sunday afternoon at Prince George's Stadium.
Aaron Mathews doubled in Sergio Santos for New Hampshire's only run in the 8th inning, the RELCO Enligtening Play of the Game, as the Fisher Cats (19-13) lost for the third straight day to Bowie (18-18). It's the first three-game losing streak of the season for New Hampshire, which remains in second place 3-1/2 games behind first place Trenton.
New Hampshire starter and loser Kurt Isenberg (1-1) pitched well, allowing 2 ER in 6.1 IP, allowing 5 hits, walking 4 and striking out 4.
Bowie went up 1-0 in the second inning. Oscar Salazar walked and went to third on a single by Jeff Fiorentino (3-for-3, BB). Salazar scored when Brandon Sing grounded into a double play. The Baysox added two in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Ruddy Yan (2-for-4, RBI) and another by Val Majewski (2-for-4) off reliever Lee Gronkiewicz.
The Fisher Cats cut the lead to 3-1 on the Mathews single, the only hit of the day New Hampshire had with runners in scoring position (1-for-12). The Fisher Cats left seven on base in the first five innings against starter and winner Beau Hale (4-2), who gave up six hits, and walked two, striking out 4 in five innings.
The Baysox went up 4-1 in the 8th on an RBI SF by Brian Bass. Closer James Hoey picked up his seventh save, getting Dustin Majewski (2-for-5, 2B) to ground into a double play to end the contest.
Chip Cannon had three hits for New Hampshire, a double and two singles.
In the first, Bowie's Ruddy Yan and Luis Hernandez hit triples producing the first run. Jeff Fiorentino hit a solo homer with one out in the sixth inning off Savickas to give the Baysox (17-18) its winning run.
After a day off, the roadtrip continues Tuesday evening in Reading at 7:05pm. Left-hander David Purcey (3-1, 3.13) starts for the Fisher Cats against LHP Matt Maloney (3-2, 3.29) for the Phillies.
