(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder's gift for Mother's Day was a pair of wins, as they beat New Britain, 2-1, in a suspended game from Saturday and 5-1 in the regularly scheduled game. CF Matt Carson collected five hits on the day, helping Trenton snap a six-game losing streak.

In the suspended game, play was picked up in the 9th Inning. CF Matt Carson delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth for the game-winner off losing pitcher Danny Powers (1-3). Gerardo Casadiego (1-1) worked a scoreless top half of the ninth for the win.

In the regular game, the Thunder (23-10) took a 1-0 lead in the 4th Inning as 1B Carlos Mendoza singled and scored on a double by LF Justin Christian. Trenton added three more runs off starter Tristan Crawford. Carson, who was 4-for-4 in this game, homered to left field starting the inning. SS Ramiro Pena added an RBI single to make it a 3-0 game, followed by an RBI groundout from DH Noah Hall. Crawford (3-2) took the loss charged with four runs and seven hits in four innings.

Meanwhile, Trenton starter Jason Jones blanked the Rock Cats (16-14) over seven innings. He allowed just two singles with no walks and a season-high eight strikeouts to improve to 3-1.

The Thunder have an "off-day" on Monday as they travel to Erie, PA to begin a series with the SeaWolves on Tuesday. Jeff Marquez (4-2, 1.93) starts in the series opener for Trenton against erie's Eulogio DeLaCruz (4-2, 3.46).
