Fisher Cats fall in 10, 5-4, at Norwich Thursday

Designated hitter Randy Walter doubled home two runs in the last of the tenth inning as the Norwich Navigators rallied for a 5-4 victory Thursday over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, completing a sweep of the three-game series in Norwich.

Walter's double off reliever Bubbie Buzachero scored catcher Justin Knoedler (2-for-4, 2 BB, 2 R) and third baseman A-J Labarbera with the tying and winning runs. Norwich (50-54) trailed 4-2 going to the bottom of the tenth inning before rallying with four straight hits, three off reliever Jordan DeJong (1-4), who was tagged with the loss.

New Hampshire (51-52), in losing its seventh straight, had taken the lead in the top of the tenth. Shortstop Raul Tablado's bases loaded single off winning pitcher Billy Sadler (4-4) scored Maikel Jova and Ron Acuna.

The Fisher Cats played from the lead most of the game. Ryan Roberts hit a solo homer in the third and third baseman Brad Hassey (1-for-3 RBI, 2 BB) had an RBI single in the 4th to stake starter Ismael Ramirez to a 2-0 lead.

Navigator right fielder Dan Ortmeier homered off Ramirez to make it 2-1 in the 6th.

Norwich rallied for a tying run in the bottom of the ninth off reliever Steve Andrade. Brad Vericker lined a single to right field, scoring Knoedler with the tying run.

The Fisher Cats continue the road trip in Portland Friday night with left hander David Purcey making his first start for New Hampshire against Sea Dog right hander David Pauley.
