Fisher Cats Bash Way to 13-8 Victory

Manchester, NH- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats set a franchise record by scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning en route to a 13-8 come-from-behind victory over the Binghamton Mets on Saturday afternoon at Merchantsauto.com Stadium. The win snapped New Hampshire's three-game losing streak and put an end to Binghamton's five-game winning streak.

The Fisher Cats (5-4) trailed 5-0 in the bottom of the fourth when they put together the record-setting stanza, which included six hits and five walks, as 14 men came to the plate. Eric Thames (3-for-5, 2 RBI, R, 2B) had an RBI single and a run-scoring double in the inning; losing pitcher Eddie Kunz issued back-to-back, four-pitch, bases-loaded walks to Adam Loewen (1-for-3, 2 BB, 2 R, RBI) and Jonathan Diaz (1-for-3, 2B, 2 BB, 3 RBI, 2 R) ; Brian Jeroloman (2-for-3, 2 2B, BB, 3 RBI, R) and David Cooper (2-for-3, 2B, 2 BB, 2 RBI, R) each stroked two-run doubles off reliever Derrick Ellison; Calix Crabbe (0-for-3, SF, BB, R, RBI) added a sacrifice fly and Manny Mayorson (1-for-4, BB, RBI, 2 R) contributed a run-scoring single, building New Hampshire's lead to 10-5.

Kunz (1-1) was reached for six runs on two hits and five walks in 3.1 innings. Ellison surrendered four runs on four hits and three walks in one inning. Each pitcher notched two strikeouts.

Bobby Bell (1-1) was the beneficiary of the offensive onslaught, notching his first career Double-A victory despite yielding seven runs on eight hits in five innings. The right-hander tallied three strikeouts and walked two.

Adrian Martin went two innings of relief, allowing a solo home run to Jose Coronado (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R) in the sixth inning.

Tim Collins finished things off with two hitless innings, registered four strikeouts.

The Mets (6-4) jumped out to a 5-0 lead for the second straight game thanks to a five-run second inning against Bell. D.J. Wabick (1-for-4, RBI) ended an 0-for-12 streak to begin the season with an RBI single; Coronado added an RBI single and Luis Hernandez (2-for-5, 2B, 3 RBI) capped the inning with a three-run double.

On the bright side for Binghamton, Zach Lutz (2-for-5, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R) belted his Eastern League-leading fourth home run, and third in as many games, a two-run shot that ricocheted off the facing of the Samuel Adams Bar & Grill in the top of the fifth inning.

New Hampshire and Binghamton wrap up their four-game series on Sunday afternoon at 1:35pm with the Fisher Cats sending left-hander Luis Perez (1-0, 0.00) to the mound against Mets lefty Eric Niesen (0-1, 3.12). Radio coverage begins at 1:15pm with Mike Murphy on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
