Fish Win Rain Shortened Game

Lexington County Blowfish News Release

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. -- After dropping both games of a late doubleheader last night to the RedWolves en route to elimination in the Petitt Cup Playoff chase, the Blowfish welcomed in the Gastonia Grizzlies for their final series of the season.

The Blowfish have lost 10 of their last 12 and four in a row but tonight that skid would stop.

Lexington County knocked off the Grizzlies in a rain shortened five-inning game by the final of 2-1.

Lexington County gave up an early lead in the first inning but stormed back in the third with a solo home run from Kyle Carruthers (UNC-Asheville) and then an RBI double from Charlie Madden (Mercer) to give the Fish the lead.

The rain then began to fall at the Lex.

With the abundance of rain in the Lexington County area over the last few days, the field began to become unplayable and was deemed completed after five innings.

The win for Lexington County snaps their losing streak and gets them back on the right track after a two week rough patch with just two games left on the season.

Tomorrow night the Blowfish will play their last road game of the season when they travel up to Sims Legion Park, the site of Lexington County's first game of the season. First pitch from Gastonia is slated for 7:17 and coverage on z93.1 FM The Lake will begin at 7:00.
