Lexington County Blowfish News Release
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. -- Back at home for their first time since the all-star break, the Lexington County Blowfish took aim at the Forest City Owls tonight but came up empty as Forest City knocked off the Fish 10-4.
As has been the theme all season the Blowfish were able to get runners on all evening but were unable to get the big base hit leaving ten runners on base throughout the game.
The Owls struck first on the two run bomb by AJ Bumpass (Cincinnati) that flew far into the trees out in right field in the second.
Forest City was far from done with their damage in the second.
The Owls brought home three more run most aided by three Blowfish errors in the half inning. When all was said and done the deficit climbed to 5-0.
Lexington County brought home two runs when Clint Carr (Valdosta State) smacked an RBI single into right that brought in Danny Edgeworth (Mercer) and eventually allowed Adam Renwick (Clemson) to score when the ball was booted in right and thrown wild towards the plate.
Forest City responded quickly in the third with a solo home run from Trey Todd (Albany); a line shot that just cleared the fence at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
The Blowfish tried to claw back multiple times throughout the game but failed to capitalize on multiple opportunities with two on and nobody out. All they could muster was a run in the sixth and another in the ninth after the Owls plated four more runs in the eighth and ninth innings en route to the 10-4 win.
The loss drops the Blowfish back to .500 on the season and they will head back out on the road tomorrow night to play the Gastonia Grizzlies at Sims Legion Park. First pitch is slated for 7:17 p.m. and coverage on z93.1 FM The Lake begins at 6:50 p.m.
