
Grand Slam Pushes Clams Past Tobs

EDENTON, NC - The Edenton Steamers took down the Wilson Tobs by final score of 4-1 on Thursday night. Edenton (6-2, 18-18) moved into first place in the second half standings, while Wilson (3-5, 17-18) dropped its fourth contest to the Steamers.
Ted Christie grabbed the win for the Clams. Christie (3-3) allowed one run on six hits while walking one batter and fanning five. Sam Beattie earned his first save of the season, picking up a walk and a strikeout in a scoreless ninth.
Dillon DeBlieux shouldered the loss for the Tobs. DeBlieux (0-1) gave up four runs on just one hit while dealing five walks and five strikeouts in 5.2 innings.
The Tobs struck first with a run in the fourth. Andrew Webster cracked a one-out single, and Jack Larsen put two in scoring position with a double in the next at bat. Austin Fisher followed with a groundout to short to bring in the first run and give Wilson a 1-0 advantage.
Edenton jumped out in front and never looked back with a four-run fifth inning. After a Mitchell Price groundout, Stefan Van Horn was hit with a pitch and back-to-back walks to Ben Prada and Tyler Ammerman loaded the bases. Two batters later, Trey Hair launched a grand slam to right-center, turning the tables with one swing and giving the Teal and Black a 4-1 lead.
