First Rough Riders Signing for 2006 Season is Pure Magic

Peoria Rough Riders Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Chuck Goodwin announced Monday that the United Indoor Football League team has signed 5' 8", 175-pound WR De'Juane "Magic" Jones.

De'Juane played collegiate football at the University of St.Francis in Joliet, IL. As a member of the Fighting Saints football team Jones was the team's Offensive Player of the Year in 1998 and 1999. Following his collegiate career Jones went on to play for the Cook County Punishers and the Force of Illinois in the Mid-State Football League. While playing for the Force of Illinois Jones was named the 2003 1st Team Mid-State Football League Return Specialist and he was also named the AFA (American Football Association) Semi-Pro 1st Team All-American at the same position.

This is the first signing for Chuck Goodwin as head coach of the Peoria Rough Riders. "De'Juane is a very tough receiver that will go up after the ball and come down with it; He has very good hands," said Goodwin.

- Peoria Rough Riders along with Sully's Pub will be holding open player tryouts on Sunday, October 23rd at the RiverPlex located at 600 N.E. Water Street In Peoria.

Registration will start at 8:00 a.m. with tryouts lasting until 11:00 a.m. Cost is $40 (cash only) and includes a t-shirt and lunch following the tryouts at Sully's Pub in downtown Peoria.
