First Place Manchester Takes Down Corning 138-130

November 29, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Corning Bulldogs News Release

Corning, NY -- The Corning Bulldogs (2-4) jumped out early on the Blue Conference North Division leading Manchester Millrats (6-1) and took a 36-21 lead in the game. The Corning Bulldogs then seemed to go away from the team work style of play that build the lead and it opened the door for a good Manchester team. Manchester was able to take a 74-70 lead into the locker room at the half. The second half was a close battle with the lead going back and forth between the two teams for the most of it. With a little over two minutes left in the game the Corning Bulldogs once again stuggled to close out a game as the sloppy play down the stretch allowed Manchester to pull out a 138-130 victory. The Corning Bulldogs floor general Al Stewart was the games leading scorer with 32 points. Anthony Anderson led the Manchester Millrats with 27 points in the contest.

According to James Schutz, owner/coach, "We keep facing the top teams in the ABA , we build a lead on them and then we give the game away in the end. For the first time this season I really felt we showed a lack of heart."

The Corning Bulldogs will try to rebound on Monday, December 3rd @ 7:15pm when they take on the Syracuse Raging Bullz (3-2) from the campus of Corning Community College.
