Vermont Frost Heaves News Release

When we began the Vermont Frost Heaves back in December 2005, we had a vision of filling classic, beloved Vermont gyms with great basketball and passionate fans. Sure enough, we won an ABA title in Year One and drew flocks of followers to Barre and Burlington. But our vision had a flip side: use digital technology to invite the world beyond Vermont in. The Bump Club of which you're a member plays a huge role in the second part of that vision, and I'm happy to report that, in Year Two, we've begun to realize the potential of the Web in an exciting new way.

All of our home games are being Webcast, both live and for rebroadcast, through an arrangement with PlayON! Sports, a division of Turner Broadcasting. The Webcasts are free, and may be accessed by going to vermontfrostheaves.com.

Tonight at 7:05 p.m. we put our 5-0 record on the line in Barre against the Westchester Phantoms. Wherever you are-and almost half the members of the Bump Club live outside Vermont-you can watch all the action over the Web. Watch ABA Coach of the Year Will Voigt lead founding Frost Heaves Markus Austin, John Bryant, Antonio Burks, Issa Konare and B.J. Robertson. Check out our newcomers, including Dokun Akingbade, Rashaun Banjo, Chris Cayole, Brett Gravitt, Terrance Green, David Hannah, Dwayne Lee and former UVM star Erik Nelson. See the Phantoms, led by former And1 Mix Tape star Headache, a.k.a. Tim Gittens, and 4-1 under the guidance of their coach, Olympic gold medalist and former WNBA star Teresa Weatherspoon. And watch Northfield Savings Bank Community All-Star Ariel Zevon, daughter of the late singer-songwriter Warren Zevon, as she shoots shots to benefit her Local Agricultural Community Exchange, L.A.C.E., which has had so much to do with the revitalization of downtown Barre.

I want to personally invite you to look in on all the excitement of a Frost Heaves game, and make plans to follow us through the rest of our home schedule, from wherever you happen to be. Whether you catch us live or on rebroadcast, Frost Heaves Ahead!

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
