First-Place Fighting Falcons Travel To Soo For Weekend Series With Eagles

Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, hit the road for a weekend series against the Soo Eagles at Pullar Stadium. The first-place Fighting Falcons have not traveled to the Soo since early October.

The Fighting Falcons (21-7-7) have won four of their six matchups against the Eagles (15-15-6), and have earned at least one point in all six, with a 4-0-2 record. Four of the six games between these teams have required extra time, and three have been decided in the shootout. Port Huron has outscored the Soo 17-13 so far this season.

Zach Badalamenti (5G), Logan Lambdin (2G, 3A), Matt Jones (1G, 4A) and Alex Archibald (5A) average nearly a point per game against the Eagles this season. The Soo has been led by Mike Sabbatini (2G, 2A) and Darren Brady (1G, 3A).

Alex Blankenburg got his first shutout of the season in a 3-0 Fighting Falcons win over the Eagles back on November 8. The win was the first of four in a row for Port Huron, a feat they can match with a sweep this weekend.

Last weekend's sweep of the Janesville Jets gave the Fighting Falcons a winning record overall for the first time in franchise history. Port Huron is just three wins shy of 100 in their fourth season of NAHL competition.

The Fighting Falcons lead the NAHL in scoring, netting 123 goals at a clip of 3.43 per game. They have the fewest regulation losses in the league, and have lost by more than one goal just twice through 35 games this season.

Port Huron has led the North Division since opening night of the 2013-14 season, and currently hold a three-point lead over second-place Johnstown. At 49 points, Port Huron is currently third in the NAHL's overall standings, but they have at least one game in hand on both teams ahead of them.

The Fighting Falcons return to home ice January 17 and 18 when they host second-place Johnstown. Youth hockey players can get a walk-up ticket for just $5 if they wear their team jersey.

Tickets to any Fighting Falcons home game are available at the McMorran Arena Box Office, starting at just $7 for seniors, students and military. For more information, call the team's front office at (810) 966-3800.
