Eagles Face First-Place Fighting Falcons in Key North Division Series

The Soo Eagles have moved up the standings in the North American Hockey League's North Division, going 7-2-2 in their last 11 games, and they look to continue their winning ways this weekend at Pullar Stadium. The Eagles will face the first place Port Huron Fighting Falcons on Saturday, January 10 at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, January 11 at 3:00 p.m. If you can't make it to Pullar Stadium, you can catch all the action on www.fasthockey.com with Scott Nason and Larry Pozzebon.

The Eagles currently sit in a fourth place tie with Springfield in the North American Hockey League's North Division (15-15-6) with 36 points. Port Huron is in first place (21-7-7) with 49 points.

The Eagles are led in scoring by Mike Sabatini, who has 10 goals and 13 assists this season. AJ Jarosz is (5-12- 17), while Ryan Urso is (4-12- 16) and Bruno Birzitis (8-8- 16).

The Fighting Falcons are led in scoring by Bryan Yim, who has 10 goals and 19 assists this season. Zach Badalamenti is (9-17- 26), while Jonathan Kopacka is (9-16- 25). Soo Eagles goaltender Landon Trutt is 3-1-0-1 this season, with a goals against average of 2.48 and a save percentage of .923. Nathan Klebe is 3-0-0-0 on the campaign, with a GAA of 1.99 and a SV% of .937.

Max Milosek is 10-6-2-5 in net for Port Huron, with a goals against average of 2.75 and a save percentage of .911. Alex Blankenburg is 11-1-0-0, with a GAA of 1.83 and a SVP of .939.

These teams have met six times this season, with five of the six games being decided by a single goal. The teams split a pair of games in Sault Ste. Marie on October 4-5, 2013, while the Fighting Falcons have won three of the four games played in Port Huron. These teams have gone to overtime in four of their games played this season, with the Eagles winning two of those games in a shootout, and the Falcons wining one in overtime and the other in a shootout.

These teams will meet four more times this season, including February 28 and March 1 in Sault Ste. Marie, and March 15-16 in Port Huron.
