Odessa Jackalopes News Release

(Odessa, TX) - The Odessa Jackalopes jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period en route to a 5-1 win over the Corpus Christi IceRays on Saturday at the Ector County Coliseum. The win improves the Jackalopes record to 25-5-3 on the season.

The Jackalopes controlled the first period with their three-goal start to the game. Dominic Leveille banged a rebound in at 4:29 for a power play goal on assists from Alex Dunn and Brian Swiniarski. Odessa then netted another power play goal with quick passing on an odd-man rush. Sebastien Thinel sent a cross-ice pass from the left circle to Collin Circelli, who one-timed it from the right circle back to Mike Ramsay. Ramsay then buried a one-timer for his 12th of the season and a 2-0 Odessa lead. Then Jeff Pierce wristed one home from the front of the net at 15:57, after weaving through a pair of defenders, to give Odessa a 3-0 lead after the first period.

Both teams traded goals in the second period. Jean Bourbeau gave Odessa a 4-0 lead with a routine wrist shot from the right wing side that slipped past Kevin Desfosses and just across the goal line. The IceRays recorded their first goal of the game on the power play from a one-timer in the right circle off the stick of Chad Woollard at 16:36. Odessa held a 4-1 lead after forty minutes of play.

Collin Circelli scored a goal in the third period to give the Jacks the 5-1 lead. Circelli went the length of the ice, split two defenders before sliding one in for his 16th of the season.

Van Drunen's assist on Pierce's goal was the 200th of his pro career. The Jackalopes end their seven-game homestand going 6-1-0.

The team now starts and eight-game road trip, their longest of the season, with a Friday contest against the Mississippi Riverkings at 7:05 PM. The action can be heard on 102.1 Jack FM.
