AUGUSTA, GA—Hockey history will be made in Augusta this Thursday night. The first ever Beginner's Adult Hockey League is set to hit the ice this Thursday night at 8:00pm at the Augusta Ice Sports Center. Under the supervision of Augusta Lynx Coaches Jim Burton and John Whitwell, roughly 50 men and women over the age of 18 will be geared up in hockey equipment from head to toe and will set off onto the ice for the first of 10 sessions that will span from June 6th to Augusta 15th.

The league will feature four weeks of practice, followed by four weeks of games, and a mini-playoff schedule. First time hockey player George Fry III is enthusiastic about the opportunity to play hockey, "I got sick of watching the Lynx have all the fun, it's my turn for a shot on the ice. I learned to skate about two years ago, and I thought it was high time I put it to use."

All media is encouraged to attend this Thursday night's first skate. Player's are scheduled to show up to the Augusta Ice Sports Center one hour early for instruction on how to properly put hockey equipment on. This inaugural evening of fun should provide for some excellent stories and some wonderful camera footage.

For more information on the Beginner's Adult Hockey League contact Kyle Schultz at the Augusta Lynx Office at 724-4423, or the Augusta Ice Sports Center at 863-0061.
