June 3, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
New Orleans Brass News Release

(6/03/02) The New Orleans Brass has completed two previous trades by acquiring goaltender Shawn Degagne from Atlantic City and left wing Shawn Mamane from Arkansas.

Degagne, 23, is a 6-1, 190-pound native of North Bay, Ontario. He was a sixth-round selection (154th overall) of the New York Rangers in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. Last season with Atlantic City, Degagne posted a record of 17-10-5 with a goals-against average of 2.67, a save percentage of .911 and one shutout in 37 games. In 2000-01, Degagne played 34 games in his rookie season with Pensacola, posting a 14-12-4 record with a 3.30 goals-against average and one shutout. Degagne comes to New Orleans in the completion of the trade which sent forward Kevin Colley to Atlantic City.

"Degagne is a proven ECHL goaltender," says Brass Vice President/General Manager Dan Belisle. "He played a key role in Atlantic City's success in both the regular season and the playoffs." The Boardwalk Bullies advanced to the Northern Conference Finals in their inaugural season.

Mamane is a 22-year old native of Montreal. The 6-0, 195-pound left wing played 48 games for Arkansas last season, posting 14 goals, 17 assists and 119 penalty minutes. He also posted 12 penalty minutes in 8 games with Peoria, and he notched one assist and seven penalty minutes in three games with Worcester of the American Hockey League. Mamane spent most of the 2000-01 season in Worcester, posting four goals, six assists and 68 penalty minutes in 51 games. In 19 games with Peoria, he added nine goals, eight assists and 47 penalty minutes. Mamane comes from Arkansas in the trade which brought Dan Heilman from Arkansas in exchange for forwards Ryan Fultz and Mike Sandbeck.

Vice President/General Manager Dan Belisle says, "Shawn is a physical force who adds a great deal of energy to our lineup. The small ice surface at Municipal Auditorium suits his game very well."

Season ticket commitment forms are still available at the official web site of the Brass: www.brasshockey.com. Forms can also be obtained by calling the Brass office at (504) 522-7825.
