KANSAS CITY, MO (Friday, May 9th, 2003) - The Kansas City Wizards hosted their first ever Johnsonville "Buck-A-Brat" Night at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday, May 3rd and General Manager Curt Johnson deemed the promotion a huge success. In all 4,826 bratwursts were consumed during the Wizards match against the Columbus Crew.
"The first Johnsonville Buck-A-Brat Night was one to remember," said Johnson. "We look forward to building on the success of this popular event in October. We appreciate Johnsonville's support of the Wizards and support of soccer in general."
To put into perspective the number of Johnsonville Bratwursts that were consumed at Saturday's game, if placed end to end on the field at Arrowhead, the 4,826 bratwursts would stretch from goal line to goal line 7.3 times. "This promotion is a great way to introduce Johnsonville Bratwursts to Wizards fans and the Kansas City community," said Jim Mueller, Marketing Executive for Johnsonville Brats. "The Wizards offer a great family atmosphere and that is what Johnsonville is all about as well. We both offer good, old-fashioned family fun. We are very pleased with the results and we are happy we can be a partner with the Wizards."
