BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods won game one of a two game home stand 5-2 over the South Bend Cubs. LHP Josh Fleming picked up his sixth win of the season.

The Cubs scored first in the third inning when DH Christian Donahue leadoff with a double, advanced to third on a sac bunt, and scored on a sac fly to make it 1-0.

Bowling Green responded in the bottom of the fourth inning when SS Taylor Walls started things off with a single and a stolen base. LF Moises Gomez was hit by a pitch, and C Ronaldo Hernandez walked to load the bases. With two outs, DH Devin Davis cleared the bases with a double to make the score 3-1.

In the seventh the Hot Rods extended their lead when CF Carl Chester singled, stole second, and scored on a single from RF Eleardo Cabrera. The Cubs got a run in the top of the eighth inning when LF Jared Young scored CF Zach Davis to make the score 4-2.

LHP Josh Fleming got the start and threw seven innings and allowed four hits, one run, one walk, and four strikeouts. RHP Kyle Goodbrand picked up his first hold of the season.

2B Vidal Brujan gave the Hot Rods another insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning when he crushed a solo home run 404 feet out to right field to make the score 5-2. RHP Jose Disla earned his second save of the season as he pitched the final inning recording two strikeouts and not allowing anything.

The Hot Rods and Cubs rap of this brief two game home stand tomorrow at 6:35pm CST. RHP Alex Valverde (5-3, 4.41) gets the start for the Hot Rods, and RHP Rollie Lacy (3-1, 2.17) will be on the mound for the Cubs.
