Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Davenport, IA - The Quad Cities River Bandits watched the Beloit Snappers score five runs in the top of the seventh inning on their way to a 6-5 win over the Bandits on Wednesday at Modern Woodmen Park. The loss evened the series at one game each.
The River Bandits came out of the gates quickly with a four-run first inning. Miguelangel Sierra tripled with two outs to begin a string of productive at bats for the Bandits. Colton Shaver drove in Sierra with an RBI single to give the Bandits a 1-0 lead. After Marty Costes joined Shaver on base after being hit by a pitch, Jonathan Lacroix blasted a three-run home run to right field to increase the advantage to 4-0. The long ball was the second of the year for Lacroix.
Beloit closed the gap a bit in the fourth inning with an RBI triple from Nick Allen and then made their big move in the seventh. Jesus Lopez and Jack Meggs led off with back-to-back singles off of Humberto Castellanos to get the rally underway. A passed ball moved both runners into scoring position and then Jordan Devencenzi lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to make it 4-2. Ryan Gridley and Mickey McDonald tallied RBI singles to tie the score. After Allen reached on an infield single, Austin Beck chopped a ball toward third base that was mishandled by David Hensley for a run-scoring error. Hunter Hungrove also reached on an error, this time from the shortstop Sierra, that pushed across a final run and gave Beloit a 6-4 lead.
The River Bandits cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the seventh when Seth Beer drove in Alfredo Angarita with a base hit into right field off of reliever Wandisson Charles. The Bandits put the tying run on first base in the eighth, but never put a runner in scoring position the rest of the way.
Enoli Paredes worked 6.0 innings and allowed just one run on two hits with five strikeouts. He allowed the run in the third inning, snapping a 19.0 inning scoreless streak that was a new season-high for a Bandits pitcher. Humberto Castellanos pitched 0.2 innings and surrendered five runs, three earned, on five hits to take the loss. Tanner Duncan pitched the final 2.1 innings without allowing any runs. He allowed one hit and walked one while recording a strikeout.
The Bandits finished with seven hits on the night. Beer led the team with a pair.
The River Bandits (6-7, 46-37) and Snappers (6-6, 33-38) will close out their series at Modern Woodmen Park on Thursday at 6:35 p.m. RHP Matt Donato (0-0, 1.50) will work on the hill for the Bandits against Beloit RHP Wyatt Marks (3-6, 4.20).
All River Bandits games are broadcast on 1170 K-BOB and TuneIn Radio. Home games are also available with video on MiLB.TV.
