New Partnerships Include Holiday Inn, Buona, ASI Security of Naperville & Quigley's
CHICAGO (Wednesday, March 13, 2002) --The Chicago Fire is proud to announce several business partnerships related to the team's move to Cardinal Stadium at North Central College.
The Holiday Inn Select in Naperville has been named the official hotel of the Chicago Fire, and will house all visiting teams. The Holiday Inn recently completed a $14-million renovation and features over 400 rooms. The Holiday Inn is also one of the host hotels of the LPGA tournament event in Naperville this May.
"Naperville couldn't ask for a better professional sports team than the Chicago Fire," said Christine Jeffries, President of the Naperville Development Partnership and Convention and Visitors Bureau. "The partnership they formed throughout the community and their outreach to Naperville residents is a testimonial to their commitment to bring family fun and entertainment to their new home stadium."
Buona Companies, LLC has been named the concessionaire at Cardinal Stadium for Chicago Fire events. Known best for their chain of 11 Buona Beef restaurants, including one in Naperville, they have recently formed a division called Buona Sports and Entertainment which has catered the PGA Championship and Chicago Motor Speedway.
Laidlaw Transportation of Naperville will provide shuttle bus service from the Chicago Fire's remote parking lots. Laidlaw is the nation's largest provider of school bus service. ASI Security of Naperville will assist Naperville Police and North Central College security at all Fire home games.
"The Fire's impact on Naperville is far greater than the fans we will bring to the city," said Steve Pastorino, the Fire's Senior Director of Marketing. "Naperville is the home of many businesses that will provide essential services to our fans. We have been warmly received and look forward to 'doing business' in Naperville."
Quigley's Pub, 43 E Jefferson in Naperville, is the Fire's official pub for 2002. Located two blocks from Cardinal Stadium, the authentic Irish pub will be a popular pre- and post-game spot for fans to visit.
The Chicago Fire was founded on October 8, 1997 as a Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion team. The Fire captured the MLS Cup and U.S. Open Cup in the team's inaugural season in 1998. The Fire also won the 2000 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and 2000 and 2001 MLS Central Division titles.
