ABOUT LAST GAME: Columbia won its series against Hagerstown with a thrilling 7-6 late-inning win in the finale Friday night. The Fireflies held a 5-2 edge, but the Suns rallied and scored three unanswered in the fifth and sixth.

- Scott Manea broke a 5-5 tie with an RBI single in the top of the ninth. The Fireflies added a much-needed insurance run when Zach Rheams was hit by pitch with the bases loaded.

- Carlos Hernandez absorbed one run in the bottom of the ninth, but ultimately slammed the door and earned his third professional save.

BT CRUISER: Blake Tiberi's road trip is off to a sizzling start. The former Louisville Cardinals infielder clocked his fourth home run of the season on Friday. Tiberi finished the three-game series in Hagerstown with seven hits. The 23-year-old has hit safely in four straight games. Columbia begins a four-game series with Lakewood on Saturday and Tiberi holds a .400 batting average against the BlueClaws in seven contests.

OPENING EYES: RHP Darwin Ramos might be in the midst of his best two-week stretch as a Firefly. The 22-year-old posted three shutout frames on Friday, bringing his scoreless streak to 12 innings over his last five outings. Ramos held a 5.65 ERA on June 25 and now it sits at a season-best 4.42.

BOLD STRATEGY, LET'S SEE IF IT PAYS OFF: The Fireflies lead the league in walks drawn (294) and have struck out (633) the fewest times.

PROMOTED: Raphael Gladu is the most recent Firefly to receive a promotion to advanced-A St. Lucie. The 23-year-old certainly left his mark in Columbia:

- Went on 28-game on-base streak (May 2-June 9)

- Posted longest hitting streak in club history (23 games)

- Played in 71 games: .275 BA, 13 2B, 25 RBI, 12 SB

UP THE FARM: Along with Gladu, Jeremy Vasquez was also recently promoted to St. Lucie. The tandem made a huge mark on Friday night's 4-3 win over Palm Beach. Gladu launched a three-run homer and Vasquez collected three hits.

THE FUTURE: Andres Gimenez was selected to join the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at Nationals Park on July 15. The former Firefly will play for the World Team in a game that features the top minor league prospects. Gimenez is currently listed as the Mets no. 1 prospect, according to MLB.com.
