Greenville Drive News Release
Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive extended their winning streak to six games with a 3-0 shutout of the Lexington Legends in front of 5,553 fans on Saturday night at Fluor Field.
The Drive (14-9, 39-53) starting pitching has been tremendous during the win streak, and Jhonathan Diaz (6-5) continued that trend. He turned in seven scoreless innings and allowed only four hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
Diaz received support from a pair of relievers, as Juan Florentino threw a scoreless eighth and Durbin Feltman followed by striking out the side in the ninth to record his second save in as many appearances with Greenville.
Pedro Castellanos led the Drive offense with three hits in the game, including an RBI in the bottom of the eighth, and Garrett Benge added a pair of hits with a run.
The Drive took a 1-0 lead against Yefri Del Rosario (0-5) in the fourth when Castellanos singled, moved all the way to third on a wild pitch and came home on a Legends (9-13, 46-44) error.
The score remained there until the bottom of the eighth. Ryan Fitzgerald was hit by a pitch to begin the inning, and he later came in on a passed ball. Castellanos then followed with his RBI single to score Benge, who doubled off the Green Monster.
Game two of the four-game series is at 4:05 on Sunday afternoon at Fluor Field. The Drive will send right-hander Denyi Reyes (8-3, 1.91) to the mound against Legends right-hander Carlos Hernandez (6-3, 3.34).
