Firecats to Call Germain Arena Home Thru 2009

Florida Firecats News Release
Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats will continue to play their home games thru the 2009 season after recently signing a 3 year contract extension. The Firecats were in the final year of their current contract. The extension will begin on August 31st of this year and run thru the end of the 2009 season.
"We're obviously very excited to get this deal done" said Firecats President and GM Chris Vallozzi, "getting this taken care of now allows us to focus on continuing to put a championship caliber team on the field."
The Firecats have played in Germain Arena since their inaugural 2001 season. Since joining the af2 the Firecats have won back-to-back South Division titles from 2004 to 2005, 2 American Conference Championships and have appeared in 2 Arena Cup championships 2002 and 2004, winning the Cup at Germain Arena in 2004.
"Our fans are tremendous", said Firecats coach Kevin Bouis. "We've played some great games at home, we went 7-1 there last year and the fans are a big part of that, they're loud and into the game and there's nothing better than playing at home."
"Our fan base is fantastic and our community support couldn't be better" Vallozzi added.
"We are very happy to have the Florida Firecats renew their lease through the 2009 season. They are an organization that has been both successful on the field and at the gate. To have a championship caliber team like the Firecats continue to call Germain Arena home for three more seasons is something that all of us are proud of." Florida Everblades & Germain Arena President and GM Craig Brush said of the lease extension.
The 4-1 Florida Firecats return home to host just their 2nd game of the season this week at Germain Arena against the 3-2 Birmingham Steeldogs, the "ËCats 5th divisional opponent in their 1st 6 games.
