Firecats Benton af2's All-Time Leading Receiver

Estero, FL- Firecats Florida OS MAGIC BENTON became the af2's all-time leading receiver hauling in a 28 yard reception in the 1st half of last weeks win over the Bossier City Battlewings. As the only member of the team to have played for the Firecats since their inaugural game, he has accounted for 4,882 yards eclipsing the previous record held by James Scott (4,829).

Already this season Benton has hauled in 31 passes for 454 yards and 11 touchdowns. He now has 108 career receiving touchdowns in the regular season, good enough to move him up to #3 all-time just 5 away from tying Mitch Allner's league record of 113. Former Firecats teammate Cainon Lamb currently occupies the #2 position with 111.

For his career Magic has scored 666 points ranking him 4th all-time.

And that's not it. The former Miami Hurricane and all Big East selection has 389 career catches and he's just 12 receptions away from Corey Hill's all-time top mark of 401.

The Florida Firecats picked up their 3rd straight win last week 47-26 against the Battlewings. The team heads back out on the road this week to take on the Tennessee Valley Vipers Saturday May 6th. The Firecats have a 2-3 record against the Vipers but winning the last match up 62-58 on the road in the 2nd round of the 2004 playoffs. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30pm EST.

The Firecats will return home to host the Birmingham Steeldogs, Saturday May 13th at Germain Arena. It will be the Firecats 5th game against a divisional opponent in the first 6 weeks of the season.
