Firebirds to Play Inaugural Blue & White Game at Polar Palace Arena in Lapeer

Flint, Mich. - Fans will have their first opportunity to watch the Firebirds in action in two weeks on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m., as the club will begin their on-ice preparation for the 2015-16 OHL campaign with a blue versus white intrasquad scrimmage at the Polar Palace Arena in Lapeer, Mich.

Along with the complete roster of signed Firebirds players and invited free agents, five of the club's NHL Draft Picks will be in attendance including Connor Chatham (New Jersey Devils), Alex Nedeljkovic (Carolina Hurricanes), Alex Peters (Dallas Stars), Vili Saarijärvi (Detroit Red Wings) and Josh Wesley (Carolina Hurricanes).

Tickets are currently on sale online at ticketmaster.com as well as at the Dort Federal Event Center and Polar Palace Arena box offices. Tickets are $10 for general admission seating and all proceeds will be split with the Lapeer County Youth Hockey Association (LCHA).

"I think anytime that you can have an intraquad scrimmage and share it with an outlying community is fantastic," said Firebirds General Manager, Terry Christensen. "Lapeer is an excellent location. It's close enough to Flint where our fans that will watch us on a regular basis can make the trip and it gives us an opportunity to evaluate the players as they go out and try to perform to earn a roster spot."

Standing room only tickets to the Flint Firebirds inaugural opening night game vs. the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday, Sept. 26 are available by visiting the Dort Federal Event Center Box Office, ticketmaster.com or by calling (810) 744-0580.
