Fayetteville Marksmen News Release
[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] - The Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced their final roster yesterday and are set to begin the 2008-09 season tonight as they visit the defending champion Knoxville Ice Bears.
The FireAntz will look very familiar to most fans as eight returners have made this year's team. They include goaltenders Chad Collins and Kyle Knecthel, defensemen Corey Hessler and Lawne Snyder, as well as forwards Marc Norrington, Jarrett Robertson, Rob Sich and Justin Keller.
Some of the 'new' FireAntz to note are identical twin brothers Mike and Matt Ruberto, former Jacksonville Barracudas Rob Colangelo and Craig Geerlinks, and former 3rd round NHL pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets Jeff Genovy.
Tonight the FireAntz play the Knoxville Ice Bears followed by a game in Richmond on Saturday. The FireAntz will return to Fayetteville for their Home Opener on Friday, October 31st at 7:30 pm against the Huntsville Havoc.
