Fayetteville Marksmen News Release
[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] - The Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that the club has re-signed forward B.J. Stephens. He joins goaltender Chad Collins and Player/Assistant Rob Meanchoff as players signed for the 2006-07 season.
Stephens, a 6'2'', 215 pound forward from Hershey, PA rejoins the FireAntz after joining the club in January. In 21 games he tallied nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points. Stephens becomes the club's first of three veterans signed for the upcoming campaign.
"B.J. came to the club last season when we were really struggling and he was a definite impact on the turnaround of the team." President/General Manager Kevin MacNaught added, "We're counting on him to continue to be a presence on and off the ice."
Stephens has played 240 games in his professional career and has 97 goals and 108 assists for 205 points. He also has 179 penalty minutes.
"I'm really looking forward to coming back to Fayetteville and building on what we accomplished last season." Stephens said, "Having the opportunity to play for a head coach like John Marks is going to be amazing. He's won everywhere he's been and I'm confident we're going to have a great year this year."
The FireAntz begin the 2006-07 season on October 27 as they host the expansion Richmond Renegades. Season tickets and corporate partnerships are still available. Call the FireAntz office at (910) 321-0123 for more information.
