
FireAntz defenseman Mike Utzig retires

[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] - The Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today the retirement of defenseman Mike Utzig. Defenseman Patrick Carriere has been added to fill his roster spot.
Utzig, a 6'3'', 225 pound defenseman out of Buffalo, New York, played in two games for the FireAntz this season. In those two games he was a +5 with seven penalty minutes.
Carriere, a 5'11'', 185 pound defenseman from St. Malo, Manitoba comes to the FireAntz after playing three seasons in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) for the Nipawin Hawks. In those three seasons he played 158 games, scored 24 goals, had 45 assists for 69 points and tallied 462 penalty minutes.
The FireAntz next home game is Thursday, October 27th at 7:35 pm against the Huntsville Havoc. Great seats still remain.
