August 14, 2006 - arenafootball2 (af2)
Louisville Fire News Release

The Louisville Fire arena football team recently completed their third straight winning season and earned a playoff berth for the third year in a row. Five Fire players have now been honored by af2 coaches and media as American Conference All-af2 team members. Quarterback Brett Dietz, offensive specialist Rob Mager and wide receiver/linebacker Dennis Fryzel have all been named American Conference All-af2 first team. Offensive line specialist Will Rabatin and kicker Dave Hendrix were named to the second team.

Dietz, a Covington Catholic and Hanover College product, as a rookie led the Fire to a 9-7 regular season record and was in the top five of virtually every passing category all season. Dietz set and Arena Football record with 12 touchdown passes at Albany on June 17. Dietz also led af2 in pass efficiency with a rating of 126.74. Dietz finished the 2006 with a 71.2 completion percentage, 4,217 passing yards and 90 touchdown passes. Dietz also accumulated 11 rushing touchdowns.

Mager, a Seymour, IN native, tied the af2 record for touchdown receptions in a season with 54. Mager also led the Fire and the af2 in receptions (143), points (324), receiving yards (1,918) and receiving yards a game 119.8. Mager also had the second highest single game receiving total with 208 yards on April 21 against Birmingham.

Fryzel tallied a career high in receiving yards with 996 to go along with 105 receptions and 16 total touchdowns (14 receiving, 2 rushing). Defensively Fryzel totaled 32 tackles (21 U, 22A), three interception and five pass break ups at the linebacker position.

Rabatin, a University of Louisville and St. X product, anchored an offensive line that gave Dietz plenty of time to throw the ball and allowed just 12 sacks on the season. The offensive line specialist position was new to the af2 this season and Rabatin served as the center this season.

Hendrix finished the 2006 season third on the Fire in points with 102. Hendrix finished the season 6-12 on field goals and 102-127 on extra points. Hendrix was also a dangerous weapon with his onside kicks during the 2006 season.
