
Fircats Make Roster Moves to Acquire Two New Superstar Players

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats are extremely excited to announce that they have been assigned quarterback Chris Wallace and receiver Ethenic Sands by the arenafootball2 office.
Quarterback Chris Wallace, who the Florida Firecats acquired through a trade with the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Pioneers, is remembered all too well by Firecat fans.
Wallace began the season with the Cape Fear Wildcats, who dealt the Firecats their second loss back on Saturday, April 24. After linebacker Steve Gorrie literally knocked quarterback Chad DeGrenier out of the game, Wallace came off the Wildcat bench to lead Cape Fear to a 55-35 win over the Firecats. In six games at Cape Fear, Wallace completed 87 of 141 pass attempts for 1,204 yards and 28 touchdowns. He had a quarterback rating of 113.89.
While playing at Toledo, Wallace broke season records in passing yardage (2,955), pass attempts (433), total offensive plays (531), total offensive yardage (3,181), touchdown passes (27), touchdown passes/ rushes (29), and he had four consecutive 200-yard games during his junior year. Wallace was an All-MAC second teamer, and he was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week three times. At South High School in Springfield, Ohio, he was also named State Division I Co-Player of the Year and All-USA Honorable Mention. He also lettered 11 total times in football, basketball, and baseball.
In 2000, Wallace played with the Carolina Rhinos, and he completed 180 of 339 pass attempts for 2,469 yards and 52 touchdowns. He also finished second in the af2 with 236 yards rushing. He completed 171 of 321 passes for 2,529 yards and 50 touchdowns in 2002 with the af2's Norfolk Nighthawks. He also spent time with the Arena Football League's Orlando Predators, where he completed 26 of 50 pass attempts for four touchdowns and 350 yards in 2001.
Ethenic Sands is a versatile receiver and kick return man from the University of Miami-Florida. Sands was originally recruited as a quarterback out of Carol City (Florida) High School. He was the starting quarterback for the Carol City Chiefs, and he led them to two Class 6A state championships and a 29-1 record during those two seasons. He also received All-State accolades.
While playing at Miami, Sands caught 51 passes for 735 yards and six touchdowns. During his sophomore year in 2000, Sands played as the backup quarterback to starter Ken Dorsey. He completed 9 of 13 passes for 174 yards and one touchdown. He completed his touchdown pass to now NFL receiver Andre Johnson. Sands was also a primary punt returner at Miami.
