WINNIPEG, MB - The Inside Pitch, the official off-season radio show of the Winnipeg Goldeyes, returns to the airwaves Wednesday (April 25th) at 7:00 p.m. on 93.7 FM CJNU.
Wednesday's guest panel includes Goldeyes' manager Rick Forney, third baseman Josh Mazzola, outfielder Grant Heyman, Hall of Fame Canadian baseball writer Bob Elliott, and St. Paul Saints' radio broadcaster Sean Aronson.
Forney is heading into his 13th year as Goldeyes' manager, and his 22nd overall within the organization. During his first 12 seasons at the helm, Forney has guided Winnipeg to an overall .556 winning percentage, 10 winning seasons, nine playoff appearances, and an American Association-record three championships (2012, 2016, 2017).
Mazzola is the Goldeyes' all-time leader in home runs (70), and re-signed with the club on April 16th after spending the previous two seasons with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. Mazzola was a member of the Goldeyes' 2012 American Association championship team, and was voted an American Association All-Star in 2015 and 2016.
Heyman was signed by the Goldeyes on April 10th after spending the first four years of his professional career with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Heyman collected 24 doubles, 18 home runs, and 70 RBI for the High-A California League's Visalia Oaks in 2017. Heyman helped the Diamondbacks' Short Season-A affiliate Hillsboro Hops win back-to-back Northwest League championships in 2014 and 2015.
One of Canada's most renowned baseball writers, Elliott earned the prestigious J.G. Taylor Spink Award from the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in 2012. Elliott has covered both the Montreal Expos and Toronto Blue Jays, and remains editor in chief for the Canadian Baseball Network, a website dedicated to tracking the careers of all Canadian-born baseball players. Elliott was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015.
Aronson has broadcast for the Saints since 2007, and was named Ballpark Digest's 2016 Broadcaster of the Year. Aronson is the longest-tenured broadcaster in the Saints' 26-year history, and called his 1,000th Saints' game in September of 2016. The Californian is also the founder and host of "The Voice Behind the Voice," a podcast that spotlights the careers of broadcasters at the highest levels of sports.
