The Fightin Phils had 9,967 in attendance for a win over the Akron RubberDucks by a score of 6-1

The Reading Fightin Phils (43-59) on national television and in front of a record attendance of 9,967 defeated the Akron RubberDucks (57-49) by a score of 6-1. Jake Fox and Carlos Alonso each hit two-run home runs and Ryan O'Sullivan earned his fifth win.

Jake Fox instantly gave the Fightin Phils a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning as he smacked a two-run home run off RubberDucks starter Jordan Cooper to score Kelly Dugan. The home run for Fox was his fourteenth of the season. Carlos Alonso hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the 7th inning to extend the Fightin Phils lead to 4-0 and score Aaron Altherr. The home run by Alonso was his ninth of the season.

Akron scored their lone run of the game in the top of the 8th inning off reliever Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez as Justin Toole hit a RBI double to score Ronny Rodriguez. Reading added two more runs off reliever Louis Head in the bottom of the 8th inning as Jake Fox hit a RBI double and Aaron Altherr hit a RBI single to extend the lead to 6-1.

Ryan O'Sullivan (5-5) pitched five scoreless innings in which he gave up just two hits with five walks issued and four strikeouts. O'Sullivan has now tossed 15 1/3 straight scoreless innings in three starts dating back to July 13th against New Britain. Colton Murray tossed two scoreless innings in relief.

The Fightin Phils and Akron RubberDucks return to action tomorrow night for their Christmas in July game which begins at 7:05 pm. 5,000 fans will get a Santa hat thanks to CJ's Tire and Automotive Services.
