Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release
The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, today announced the signing of right-handed forward Matt Jones to a tender agreement for the 2013-2014 season. The tender agreement gives the Fighting Falcons Jones' playing rights within the NAHL for next season.
Jones is currently playing with the Arizona Bobcats U16 team. A native of Peoria, AZ, Jones represents the scope of the Fighting Falcons scouting effort. Jones is the eighth player tendered by Port Huron this season, and Arizona is the seventh home state of the tendered players.
With a 1996 birth year, Jones has all four years of his junior eligibility remaining.
"Matt is one of the top 96 birth year players on the West Coast," said Fighting Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Michael Gershon, who scouted in the Southwest during his time as Head Coach of the New Mexico Renegades of the WSHL last season. "He will be a big part of building for the future as one of the youngest guys we have tendered so far."
The Fighting Falcons are on the road for a weekend series in Janesville, and will return to home ice March 15 when they take on the first-place Soo Eagles at 7:00 p.m. at McMorran Arena. All tickets are just $7 at the McMorran Arena Box Office. For more information, call the Fighting Falcons front office at (810) 966-3800.
