Davis Joins 50-Point Club

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - JonoDavis (La Verne, Calif.) recorded his 50th point of the seasonFriday, but it wasn't enough for the Wenatchee Wild, who suffered a 3-1 loss tothe Jamestown Ironmen. The loss ended Wenatchee's 7-game winning streak, whichbegan Jan. 31 with a 2-1 win over the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.

Davis scored his 28th goal of the season in thethird period Friday, bringing his season point total to 50. Davis joined afairly exclusive club by reaching the 50-point plateau. Davis included, onlynine players in Wild history have scored 50 points in a season.

D.J. Vandercook is the only player to record 50 points in aseason twice (2008-09, 2010-11). Ben Carey's 57 points during the 2011-12season is the highest point output by a Wild player in a single season.

"Overall, he has been pretty good for us on a nightly basis,"said Wild head coach Bliss Littler. "He has been consistent for us pointing onmost nights, and he doesn't need a lot of chances."

Unfortunately, Davis' 50th point was the onlyhighlight of Wenatchee's night.

After a scoreless first period, the Ironmen struck for twolate goals in the second period. Huba Sekesi notched the first of those goalswith 2:23 left before the second intermission when he scored from the slot on apass from Ross Pavek. Victor Johansson also assisted.

Ryan Doucet made it 2-0 with 44 seconds remaining in thesecond period when he scored from the left circle after the Wild turned thepuck over at center ice. Les Gerdes was credited with the lone assist.

Davis sliced Jamestown's lead in half, 2-1, 7:15 into thethird period when he lit the lamp on a one-timer from the near point on a passfrom Chris Kerr (Penticton, BritishColumbia). Jacob Barber (DardennePrairie, Mo.) also earned an assist on Davis' 28th goal of theseason.

Jamestown needed just two minutes to respond to Davis' goalwhen Evan Ritt notched an unassisted goal on a shot from the slot that gave hisclub a 3-1 lead.

"They're a very structured team," Littler said of theIronmen. "They don't beat themselves. They're probably the most structured teamin the league, and they played harder than we did in the second and thirdperiods, but I expect we'll be better Saturday."

Robert Nichols(Dallas, Texas) made 21 saves on 24 shots for the Wild, suffering just hisseventh loss of the season. Joe Ballmer turned aside 19 of the Wild's 20 shotsto pick up his third win of the season with the Ironmen.

The Wild scored one power-play goal on two chances while theIronmen went 0-for-4 on their man-advantages.
