PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, have signed forward Brendan Jaquay of the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers to a tender agreement for the 2014-15 season. Under the terms of the agreement, the Fighting Falcons hold Jaquay's playing rights within the NAHL.

An 18-year-old from Lansdale, Pennsylvania, Jaquay currently plays for the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers of the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League. Many current Fighting Falcons played the T1EHL before making the jump to the NAHL, including former captain and current Penn State Nittany Lion Rick DeRosa, who once played for the Jr. Flyers. In 29 games this season, Jaquay has 14 points on seven goals and seven assists.

"Brendan is a big, physical forward who we think can bring some grit to our forward group in the future," said Fighting Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Michael Gershon. "We see a lot of the qualities that made Rick DeRosa such a great player in Brendan, and while that doesn't mean we expect him to become an all-time leading scorer, we do think he will be able to make an impact at this level for us next season."

Jaquay is the second player to sign a tender agreement for 2014-15 with the Fighting Falcons, as the team signed Matthew Kidney of the North American Prospects Hockey League earlier this month. Gershon and the rest of the Fighting Falcons' coaching and scouting staff have seven more tender agreements to offer between now and the 2014 NAHL Draft in June.

The current crop of Fighting Falcons returns to action Friday, January 31 when they host the second-place Johnstown Tomahawks at 7 p.m. at McMorran Arena. A fan-led initiative to pack the rink has set a goal to bring 2,000 people to the Jackpot Friday matchup. Tickets are available at the McMorran Arena Box Office starting at just $7 for seniors, students and military. For more information, call the front office at (810) 966-3800.
