Fighting Falcons Return Home After Weekend
March 7, 2011 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release
PORT HURON, MI - *The Port Huron Fighting Falcons of the North American Hockey League battled with the second-place Janesville Jets this weekend, falling in two very competitive games in Wisconsin.
Friday night the teams played to a scoreless tie for the first 54:43 of the game before the Jets were able to capitalize on an extended 5-on-3 advantage, netting the night's only two goals.
Peter Megariotis played extremely well in his first action since shutting out the Chicago Hitmen last Friday, stopping 41 of 43 shots. Megariotis has not allowed an even-strength goal in his last 125 minutes of game time.
A late fight forced both teams to play shorthanded on Saturday as each team had three players suspended for fighting in the last five minutes of the third period.
With only 14 skaters for the majority of Saturday's game, the Fighting Falcons played tough, carrying the play for much of the night.
Max Reavis scored a pair of second-period goals to give Port Huron a 2-1 lead heading into the final period, but Pijus Rulevicius would light the lamp three times in the third period to give Janesville a 4-3 victory.
Tony Kujava earned both victories for the Jets, who will make their first trip to Port Huron this weekend for games Friday and Saturday night.
The Fighting Falcons will return to home ice Thursday, when they begin their three-game weekend, hosting the Michigan Warriors. Port Huron has won two of their last three matchups against the Warriors, including two straight at home. The teams have not faced off since a thrilling 3-2 overtime win by Port Huron on January 26 at McMorran Arena.
A Port Huron hockey tradition will continue this Saturday when the Fighting Falcons will host Star Wars night. Over 30 costumed characters from the beloved films will be on hand, and the players will wear special Star Wars-themed jerseys that are already creating a buzz in the hockey community. The jerseys will be auctioned off, with all proceeds benefitting the Blue Water Humane Society.
Attack Zone tickets are available for just $5 at the McMorran Arena Box Office through the end of the season. 2011-12 season ticket packages are also available now. Existing season ticket holders will have until the end of March to renew their seats at a discounted rate of $135. New fans can reserve their seats for next season for just $150 in any section, a savings of up to $66 over this season's prices.
