
Bulls Rally Late for Win

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Amarillo Bulls notched three third period goals to snap a 1-1 tie and beat the Corpus Christi IceRays 4-1 on Monday night. The Bulls picked up win 33 and moved four points ahead of the Texas Tornado for second place in the NAHL's South Division.
Cody Freeman fired what proved to be the game winner and then Dan Sherer and Zack Smoot followed up with goals to secure the victory in the final stanza.
In the opening period, penalties and power play were the order of the play as the IceRays had four chances and scored on their third chance to take 1-0 lead. Bulls had a couple of chances on young goaltender Mason Murovich but were denied.
The Bulls tied the game in the second period, when Michael Erickson fired a shot past the IceRays goaltender at the six minute mark. Brooks Behling and Matt Johnson picked up assists on the goal. It was an entertaining 20 minutes as both teams battled hard with numerous scoring chances but were denied by the goaltenders.
The Amarillo Bulls have a big three game home stand this weekend at the Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. On Friday the Bulls face the New Mexico Mustangs at 7 pm. It's Wildfire Relief night and $1 from every ticket sold to the game will be given to the local Chapter of the American Red Cross. On Saturday night, the Bulls entertain the Topeka RoadRunners at 7 pm. That night the Hotdogs are just $1. Then on Sunday the Bulls host the RoadRunners for a second time at 6 pm. The first 200 fans get a limited edition Bulls T-Shirt courtesy of UniFirst.
