Brampton Steelheads News Release
MISSISSAUGA, ON - The Mississauga Steelheads have joined forces with A1 Air Conditioning & Heating for the first annual "Fight the Cold Coat Drive" on Friday February 21st at 7 pm, as they take on the Flint Firebirds.
Eight years ago, the Fight the Cold Coat Drive was started by Leslie & Carlo Silvestri with one goal in mind, to make sure that everyone in Mississauga has a suitable coat to keep them warm in the cold months and environmentally keep coats out of landfills. Each year, the Fight the Cold Coat Drive is run from October through March with coats distributed to women's shelters, youth shelters & community spaces serving youth, The Open Door, The Compass, as well as local schools with families in need.
Mario Angeloni, Sales and Installation Manager of A1 Air Conditioning and Heating spoke about the drive. "Choosing a campaign like 'Fight the Cold Coat Drive' feels so right to our team at A1 Air Conditioning and Heating. Helping to collect and distribute these clean, reusable coats and jackets to children and adults helps us to make a real difference and to remember that Every Life Matters! Thank you to Leslie Zurek-Silvestri for allowing us to be a part of keeping our communities warm."
The Steelheads encourage all fans to bring a gently used or new coat for donation to support the cause. Those who make a coat donation that night, will receive a voucher for a complimentary ticket to the Steelheads game on Friday February 28th as a thank you for their generosity. A bin will be available at the A1 Air Conditioning & Heating table located at Section 1.
Monetary donations can also be made to The Silvestri Group, in which the money is used to support mending, cleaning and transportation. For more information on how you can donate, please visit their Facebook group: Fight the Cold, Coat Drive.
