Rockford Lightning News Release

(February 26, 2003) – Ronnie Fields joined two exclusive clubs in one night, and it comes in a 117-98 American Conference clinching win over the Great Lakes Storm.

The first of Fields' field goals gave Ronnie 2,001 points for his Lightning career. The Farragut High School Alumnus becomes just the third member of the Lightning's 2 thousand-career point club. Fields now stands behind only Fred Cofield (3,198 points) and Brian Oliver (3,063 points) on the team's all-time scoring list.

In the third quarter Fields reached a seasonal scoring milestone, becoming the first CBA player this season to break the 1 thousand-point mark. Fields is just the fifth Lightning player to exceed the 1 thousand-point plateau in a season joining Fred Cofield, Brian Oliver, Kendrick Warren, and Jeff Sanders. All previous four Lightning thousand point scorers accomplished their feat in a 56-game season. Fields eclipsed the 1 thousand-point mark in game number 42 this season.

Last night's win completed the most successful month in ten years for the Rockford Lightning. The Bolts finished February with a 9-2 mark, their most successful month since an 11-0 record in March of 1993

The Lightning has won 8 straight games at the MetroCentre and 9 of 10 overall. The Lightning take off on their final road trip of the season with games at Dakota at March 1st and Sioux Falls on March 2nd. The final Lightning home stand of the regular season begins Thursday, March 6th against Sioux Falls at 7:05.
