Rockford Lightning News Release

The Rockford Lightning today announced that Ronnie "Field of Dreams" Fields has signed for the 2005-06 CBA season, pending league approval.

Fields, a graduate of Farragut Academy in Chicago, holds the Lightning all-time record in games played (204), points (3,671), field goals made (1,321), free throws made (824), 3-pt. FGs made (205), and steals (487). His career total of 487 steals (Rockford/Grand Rapids/La Crosse) places him 14th all-time in the CBA. Fields led the CBA in scoring and steals in both the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons, respectively. He averaged 23.2 points and 2.6 steals in 2002-03, and 24.9 points and 3.2 steals in 2003-04, becoming the only player in CBA history to accomplish that feat. Fields was also the first player since Ron Davis of the Anchorage Northern Knights in 1981-83 to lead the CBA in scoring in back to back seasons. Fields has been a first team All-CBA selection in 2002-03 and 2003-2004 and was an All-Star both of those seasons. Fields was also a member of the second-team All-Rookie team in 1996-97 and the 1997 Slam Dunk Champion.

"Having Ronnie back for another season is great for us as a franchise," said Lightning Head Coach Chris Daleo. "Ronnie brings so many things to the table. He is an outstanding defender who can shut anyone down. He can score on anyone at anytime and is a threat to put up 40 on every single night. Ronnie is also someone that the fans of the Lightning and the city of Rockford identifies with and enjoy coming out to see play. I know I speak for everyone with the franchise when I say how happy we are to have Ronnie back this season."
Lightning season tickets are currently on sale. Ticket packages start as low as $74.75. The Lightning open up their home season on Nov.20 versus the Gary Steelheads at 5:05 PM at the MetroCentre. The Jesse White Tumblers will perform at half time. Any further comments or questions concerning this release, please call the Lightning office at 874-4232.
