Indiana Fever News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Fever announced today the team signed guard Khayla Pointer. The 5-foot-7 guard from LSU was selected with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft by the Las Vegas Aces before being waived on May 2.
A three-time All-SEC performer and 2022 AP All-American, Pointer ranked second in the SEC as a senior in both scoring and assists per game. She became the only LSU player in school history, male or female, to score 1,500+ points, grab 500+ rebounds and hand out 500+ assists in a career.
In 2021-22, the Marietta, Georgia native was a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award as Division I's top point guard, and was one of 15 players on the Wooden Award ballot as national player of the year.
"Khayla's style was very intriguing during the scouting period when we watched LSU throughout the season and believe she has the potential to make an impact in the WNBA," Fever Interim Head Coach Carlos Knox said.
