JUPITER, Fla. (June 22, 2015) - Jose Fernandez was dominant in his fourth rehab start as the Jupiter Hammerheads beat the St. Lucie Mets 4-1 on Monday at Roger Dean Stadium.

Hernandez, the Miami Marlins' ace rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, struck out nine and allowed just four hits and one run in seven innings. He walked one batter and threw a wild pitch while earning the victory.

The lone run the Mets scored came in the sixth when Jeff McNeil tripled down the line in left field and he scored a wild pitch.

The Hammerheads jumped out a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Don Kelly grounded out to bring a run home, then Dominic Smith made an errant throw from first base to third base looking to catch Austin Dean off the bag. The throw sailed high and Dean trotted home.

Yefri Perez singled up the middle to bring home Blake Barber in the fourth to make it 3-0.

After McNeil's run cut the deficit to 3-1 in the sixth, the Hammerheads got the run back in the seventh. Avery Romero's RBI single plated J.T. Riddle to make it 4-1.

The Mets put runners on first and second with one out in the ninth, but Tyler Kinley struck out Victor Cruzado and Colton Plaia popped out on the infield to end it. Kinley earned his 11th save.

Mets starter Kevin McGowan took the loss. He gave up seven hits and three runs, two earned, in four innings. Julian Hilario pitched two scoreless innings and Kelly Secrest tossed the final two innings.

Dominic Smith had the only mult-hit game for the Mets. He went 2 for 3 with two singles against Fernandez.

The Hammerheads out hit the Mets 11-5. Perez, Riddle, Dean and Blake Barber had two hits apiece for the Hammerheads.

Jupiter is now 5-2 against St. Lucie this season. Both teams are 34-34 overall. The Mets and Hammerheads continue their three-game series on Tuesday with game 2 at 6:35 p.m. The game from Roger Dean Stadium can be heard on www.stluciemets.com.
