Stockton Ports News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - Brady Feigl (3-1) turned in the best performance of his career in helping the Stockton Ports snap a six-game losing streak on Monday night at Banner Island Ballpark. Feigl carried a no-hitter through 6 1/3 innings and became the first Stockton starter to work through the seventh this season in helping the Ports to a 2-0 victory over the Lake Elsinore Storm to open a seven-game homestand.
The only two runs of the contest were scored in the bottom of the fourth inning off Storm starter Luis Patino (2-4). Lazaro Armenteros singled to open the inning and advanced to second base on a balk. After Jeremy Eierman grounded out to first to get Armenteros to third, Trace Loehr provided a sac-fly to left to give the Ports a 1-0 lead. Hunter Hargrove followed with a solo home run to right to make it a 2-0 Stockton advantage.
Patino would suffer the loss, going six innings and allowing six hits while walking two and striking out seven.
Feigl, meanwhile, faced the minimum through six. Feigl issued a one-out walk to Jeisson Rosario in the second but got a double-play to end the inning, the start of 12 consecutive batters retired which got Feigl two outs deep into the sixth when he issued a walk to Allen Cordoba. Cordoba would be caught stealing to end the inning.
With one out in the seventh, Robbie Podorsky reached on a fielding error committed by Eierman at second base. Luis Campusano followed with a clean single to right field, breaking up Feigl's no-hit bid. Feigl, though, would get a strikeout of Tirso Ornelas and then get Rosario to fly out to right field to end the threat and his outing.
Feigl earned the win, going a career-high seven innings and allowing just one hit while walking two and striking out three.
Nick Highberger (SV, 2) pitched around a two-out double in the eighth by Eguy Rosario and a one-out error committed in the ninth to keep the Storm out of the run column and earn his second save of the season.
Jameson Hannah went 4-for-4 on the night for the Ports, the second time he's collected four hits in a game this season.
The Ports and Storm play the second game of their four-game set on Tuesday night at Banner Island Ballpark. Left-hander Jhenderson Hurtado (0-0, 0.00 ERA) makes his California League debut for Stockton, opposed by Storm right-hander Ronald Bolanos (3-1, 3.51 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. PDT.
