Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

Calgary - The Greyhound WHL Player of the Week is forward Eric Fehr of the Brandon Wheat Kings. Fehr earned player of the week honours by recording six goals and ten points in four games including two power-play goals during the week of March 8th to March 14th. Fehr helped lead the Wheat Kings to a perfect 4-0 for the week.

On Wednesday, March 10th, Fehr scored two goals and added two assists in a 10-0 victory against the visiting Saskatoon Blades. On Friday, March 12th, Fehr recorded a goal and added two assists in a 5-4 win against the visiting Saskatoon Blades.

On Sunday, March 14th, Fehr recorded a hat-trick in a 7-0 victory over the Regina Pats at the Keystone Centre.

The three goals gave the Winkler, Manitoba native fifty goals on the season, becoming the first Wheat King to reach the 50-goal plateau since the 1995-96 campaign when Mike Leclerc scored 58 times for the WHL champions.

Today's honour caps a tremendous week for the Washington Capitals' first round draft choice. In addition to reaching the 50-goal plateau, Fehr was the big winner at Sunday night's annual awards banquet at the Keystone Centre, taking home four awards - the Meighen Haddad Most Valuable Player, the Capitol Theatre Most Popular, the Brandon Sun Scoring and the Manitoba Hydro Turk Broda Top Manitoba Born Player.

Fehr and the Wheat Kings will face off against the Prince Albert Raiders in the best of seven opening round playoff series, beginning Thursday night at the Communiplex in Prince Albert.
