Bronco wins scoring title

Calgary, AB - The Western Hockey League today announced that Swift Current Broncos' forward Tyler Redenbach has captured the Bob Clarke Trophy as the WHL's Top Scorer.

Redenbach recorded 31 goals and 74 assists for 105 points in 71 games this season, including 11 power-play goals, five game-winning goals and two short-handed goals.

The 19 year-old from Kamloops, British Columbia, has played three seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Prince George Cougars and the Swift Current Broncos. Redenbach has totals of 51 goals and 194 points in 196 regular season games.

Redenbach edged out teammate Jeremy Williams by four points to capture this prestigious award. Williams finished as the WHL's top goal scorer with 52 goals.

This season Redenbach was named Husky WHL Player of the Month for December, Greyhound WHL Player of the Week for the week of December 9 to January 4, participated in the RE/MAX Canada Russia Challenge Series as a member of Team WHL, and was tied for the longest point scoring streak in the WHL at 15 games, collecting 36 points during that time.

Tyler Redenbach was drafted in 2003 by the Phoenix Coyotes (3rd Round, 77th overall).

Bob Clarke captured the League Scoring title in both years he played in the Western Hockey League with the Flin-Flon Bombers. In 1967-68, he recorded 51 goals and 168 points in 59 games, and in 1968-69, he scored 51 goals and 137 points in 58 games. In 1968-69, Clarke led the Bombers to victory in the WHL Championship.

Clarke went on to play 15 seasons with the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers. He won two Stanley Cups, three Hart Memorial Trophies as the NHL's MVP, the Bill Masterton Trophy for perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey and the Selke Trophy as the NHL's top defensive forward.
