Kinston, NC (June 26, 2009) - Seth Garrison threw six scoreless innings to help the Red Sox dominate the Indians for the second day in a row, winning another shutout 7-0 over Kinston at Grainger Stadium. Garrison scattered just three hits and one walk over his six frames of work, and perhaps more importantly, had a multi-run lead that would not be relinquished before he threw a single pitch.

Salem scored two runs in the first, both with two outs, to lead 2-0 after half an inning. After three consecutive two-out walks issued by Kinston starter Bryce Stowell, Tim Federowicz capitalized with a two-run double down the left field line. Federowicz, in his first game in a Salem jersey, went 3-5 with a run scored a two RBI, while also catching a shutout from the trio of Garrison, Ryne Miller, and Josh Papelbon.

The Sox proceeded to duplicate the two-out run-scoring feat an inning later to double the advantage to 4-0. Three straight base hits from Che-Hsuan Lin, Jason Place, and Mike Jones added the two tallies, with Jones picking up the pair of RBI. Salem would add single runs in the fourth, eighth, and ninth, the latter coming on Place's first home run since April 21, his third blast of the season. Place also recorded three hits and drove in two runs for Salem.

The Indians never put multiple runners on base until the eighth inning, and when they finally did, Miller struck out Kinston's top power threat, Lonnie Chisenhall, to escape unscathed. Miller struck out four in his two innings on the hill, and Papelbon allowed a two-out double in the ninth before striking out Adam Davis to end it. Kinston finished with six hits, five of which were doubles, but went 0-11 with runners in scoring position and stranded seven runners aboard.

Salem pounded 11 hits to complement their 15 base knocks last night, pounding eight singles to go along with two doubles and the Place homer. After going 7-17 with runners in scoring position in game one, the Sox went 4-10 on Friday night.

The Red Sox look to sweep the Indians on Saturday evening as the three-game series wraps up at 7:00 PM. Casey Kelly makes his sixth High-A start for Salem, while Russell Young, who has allowed just one earned run over two starts against the Sox this season, gets the ball for Kinston.
