FCBL Announces 3rd Annual All-Star Game

The 3rd annual Futures Collegiate Baseball League of New England All-Star Game will put the five teams from the East Division (Brockton, Martha's Vineyard, North Shore, Old Orchard Beach, and Seacoast) against the five from the West Division (Nashua, Pittsfield, Torrington, Wachusett, and Worcester). The game will be held at 7:05 P.M. in Brockton, MA at Campanelli Stadium, home of the Brockton Rox on Thursday, July 24th.

Prior to the game the Futures League will be holding their MLB Scout Day where the All-Stars and selected players will showcase their skills to Major League teams. There will also be entertainment before the game. The entertainment will be a free block party including a bouncy house, street performers, face painting, and a musical performance featuring the popular cover band Woot. Gates open at 3:30 for fans to come and watch scout day. There will also be a Homerun Derby before the game; starting at 6:30.

Each roster is currently comprised of 26 players: 3 catchers, 13 position players, and 10 pitchers. To select the 27th and final spot for each team, we will be conducting a fan vote on our Facebook pagehttps://www.facebook.com/thefuturesleague and website http://www.thefuturesleague.com/ starting Saturday, July 19th and ending Tuesday, July 22nd.

The manager for the East will be Brockton Rox manager Bryan Stark. Managing for the West will be the team that is leading that division by end of the day on Sunday, July 20th.

The following players will participate on the EAST Roster: Brockton Rox (8): Position players: Joe Freiday (Virginia Tech), Jonathan Salcedo (University of Maine), Zach Short (Sacred Heart), Nick Johnson (Vassar), and Tom Marcinczyk (Rutgers). Pitchers: Simon Mathews (Georgetown), Bill Maier (Iona), and Jon Pusateri (University of Akron). Martha's Vineyard Sharks (7): Position players: John Mayer (Bucknell), Will Toffey (Vanderbilt), and Brian Campbell (Stonehill). Pitchers: Matt Quintana (Siena), Max Bruckner (Iona), Mike Fitzgerald (Northeastern), and Matt Binder (Millersville). North Shore Navigators (1): Pitcher: Rob DiFranco (Bates). Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide (5): Position players: Aaron Wilson (Hartford), Paul McDonough (Southern Maine), Graham McIntire (Marist), and Skip Flanagan (Rochester Institute of Technology). Pitcher: Joey Royer* (New Haven). Seacoast Mavericks (6): Position players: Alex Merritt (University of North Florida), Mike Mastroberti (SNHU), Ryan Gendron (Southern New Hampshire University), and Martin Taveras (University of Rhode Island). Pitchers: James Vernon (North Carolina Central University), and Austin French (Brown University).

The following players will participate on the WEST Roster: Nashua Silver Knights (7): Position players: Brandon Walsh (UMass), Jimmy Ricoy (UMass Lowell), Michael Pierson (Appalachian State), Matt Sanchez (UMass Lowell), and Carson Helms (Southern New Hampshire University). Pitchers: Travis Landry (Franklin Pierce) and Sam Nepiarsky (UConn). Pittsfield Suns (5): Position player: Dan Palazzo (Bryant). Pitchers: Alex Lagos (Bryant), Nate Spielvogel (Merrimack), Phil Reese (Holy Cross), and Jamin McCann (East Tennessee State). Torrington Titans (6): Position players: Jack St. Clair (Holy Cross), Matt Batten (Quinnipiac), Mike Odenwaelder (Amherst College), and Langston Calhoun (Bryan). Pitchers: Kevin Connolly (Central Connecticut State University) and George Lund* (Roger Williams). Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (5): Position players: Mike Corin (University of Rhode Island), Richard Fecteau (Salem State), Joe Breen (Southern Connecticut), and Mattingly Romanin (Chicago State). Pitcher: Mike Lundin (Franklin Pierce). Worcester Bravehearts (5): Position players: TJ Riccio (New Haven) and Dylan Harris (St. Leo University). Pitchers: Sean Gustin (Holy Cross), Tyrone Miller (St. Leo University), and Aaron Civale* (Northeastern).
