Pittsfield Suns News Release
PITTSFIELD, MA - The Pittsfield Suns fell to the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs 8-2 Saturday evening at Wahconah Park, but despite the loss still lead the Western Division.
The Suns were the first to score in the second inning. Dan Palazzo walked to lead off the inning and would eventually end up at third after a passed ball and fielder's choice from Steve Dill. Dan Cellucci smacked a base hit to plate Palazzo and give the Suns an early 1-0 lead.
They would add to that lead in the fourth inning after an error, single from BJ Bocchiccio and double by Cellucci which would plate another run for a 2-0 Suns advantage.
Unfortunately that lead would not hold, as Wachusett would score eight run in the fifth, highlighted by two-out grand slam by Evan Brown.
The Suns got one run back in the eighth inning, but the Dirt Dawgs ensured their victory by scoring another two runs in the ninth, for a final score of 10-3.
Perry Kulaga was relieved after just four and two thirds innings. He would give up five hits, five runs and five walks in his fourth loss of the season. Wachusett's Dan Ditusa would record the victory, giving up only one earned run in six innings of work.
The Suns are back at Wahconah Park on Wednesday, July 23rd at 7 PM as the North Shore Navigators come to town. It's Dog Day at Wahconah Park and fans are invited to bring their dogs to the park Wednesday evening. For tickets or more information visit pittsfieldsuns.com or call (413)445-SUNS.
